Re-use is an alternative to e-waste. MIT's SENSEable City Lab created BackTalk to track the second-life journey of e-devices once released by their American owners.

Electronic graveyard

This map is a great resource for all of us who are try to get a grasp on the true gravity of the e-waste environmental problem. I've written about this phenomenon on my eco/sustainability blog (www.bluegranola.com) in case anyone is interested in learning more.
