Sustainable Film Production

Hollywood continues to move toward sustainability, although progress in reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions during the actual production/distribution cycle is slow. Neither of the two most popular approaches address industry-specific practices . . .

Socially-responsible filmmakers still focus largely on purchasing carbon offsets.

And much progress at the big studios is commendable but conventional green building and green workplace practices. An interview with Warner environmental exec Shelley Billik  mostly covers these conventional green practices, but does touch on industry-specific initiatives ranging from reducing the movie set waste stream (under way) to location power from bio-diesel generators (still on the wish list.)
