One sign that it is still early days for green computing can be seen in the intersection, or lack thereof, of two UK initiatives . . .

The National Health Services' National Programme for IT (NPfIT), aka Connecting for Health, has been described as one of the largest IT initiatives in the world. The Green Shift is touted as an ambitious UK initiative to reduce the energy need to both create and operate computers.  So what do suppliers to NPfIT need to consider in light of the Green Shift program?

Good question. I put it to the NPfIT a week ago and they are still working on a response. This situation is not uncommon as green computing initiatives are still not always integrated with mainstream computing practice. Stay tuned.
