One of the fun things about tracking Green ICT technologies and practices is reading the blogs of people reporting on progress within their own communities. An example is Data Pasture, which covers the Austin, TX area. An interesting aspect of this site is its advocacy of "micro data centers", which is offered as an alternative to "massive power hungry data centers which are almost entirely located in large metropolitan centers". The idea of decentralized data centers is intriguing; I'd like to see the author flesh out this concept to see if it represents a truly greener alternative.
